About FINBOA:

FINBOA is a financial technology company delivering software solutions that streamline back-office operations for financial institutions.

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Accountant with a strong foundation in GAAP, SaaS accounting, and transactional finance to support our growing team. This role is designed to work in close partnership with management and will be hands-on in managing the day-to-day and month-end accounting operations of the business. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and audit-ready, capable of producing accurate schedules and supporting a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Order-to-Cash (OTC) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) workstreams, including invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and expense coding

  • Manage daily and weekly cash activity, assist in preparing 13-week cash flow forecasts

  • Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledger accuracy, and perform monthly account reconciliations

  • Identify monthly accruals and prepaid expenses for proper accounting treatment

  • Lead sales tax compliance and reporting across multiple jurisdictions, leveraging third-party processors

  • Support monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP

  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and schedules, thinking like an auditor to ensure completeness and traceability

  • Assist with SaaS revenue recognition under ASC 606 and billing operations, ideally with tools like Maxio, SaaSOptics, or similar

  • Utilize tools such as Bill.com or similar platforms for efficient payables management

  • Prepare schedules for internal review, board reporting, and external stakeholders

  • Proactively investigate variances to budget and prior month and provide quantifiable explanations to mangement

  • Proactively identify process improvements in financial workflows and documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in a SaaS or technology company

  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting

  • Experience with sales tax processing and compliance

  • Prior experience working with Maxio, SaaSOptics, or similar SaaS billing platforms

  • Familiarity with Bill.com, QuickBooks Online, and Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data validation)

  • Experience preparing or supporting 13-week cash flow models

  • Track record of building audit-ready schedules and reconciliations

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic startup environment

  • “Trust but verify” mindset with high attention to detail and analytical thinking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting or leading a financial audit

  • Exposure to investor reporting or board reporting packages

  • SaaS KPI familiarity (e.g., MRR, ARR, churn, CAC)

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to help build a high-performing finance function from the ground up

  • Flexible work environment

  • Direct mentorship from a seasoned fractional controller

Compensation: $64,967.00 - $70,273.00 per year
